Who I am
COACH MARTIN ALLEN
The Head Coach - Martin Allen
I was born as an asthmatic, going to the ICU several times as a toddler but that never stopped me doing sports, it just meant I had to work harder and smarter than my opponents.
I grew up in 2 sports, swimming and cycling, my father was an avid cyclist so I would regularly spend my summers doing track or road cycling, with my winters spent doing cyclo-cross, and my evenings after school training in the pool for Wyre Forest Swimming Club.
At the age of 10 I started Judo and that took over my life, and I took my training seriously, doing calisthenics in my room, running in out in the woods and doing 2-3 Judo sessions per week. I competed Nationally and Internationally for Samurai Judo Club, earning my black belt at 17 and National C Refereeing qualification.
With this sporting experience I started learning about Strength & Conditioning, finding a passion helping friends navigate their training to maximise their potential. This led to me starting formal education in Personal Training, and I gained my Level 2 and Level 3 personal training qualifications. I have since helped clients from other sporting backgrounds (Rugby, Judo, Jiu-jitsu, Football, and Obstacle Course Racing (OCR)). I am currently doing my Level 6 Applied Coaching Science Qual with Dr Ash Cox from Red-on Uni, as well as Level 4 Sports Nutrition, and Level 4 Diabetes management qualifications.
I have a lot of knowledge gained from experience and personal research and am only enhancing myself further, and you as a client can help shape the path I take, delving deeper into your sport and sporting needs. My clients always come first and if my client brings me a situation I’ve never seen, I will scour every resource and become an expert in that area.
I’m also an Official member of the 1000lb club for powerlifting, which explains the quads
